AI article generator: a short first draft to edit, not a page to publish.
Enter a topic and, if you have one, a target keyword. The tool writes a short draft article. It has no first-hand experience and no verified sources, so treat it as raw material: fact-check it, add what you know, and edit it before anyone reads it.

AI article draft generator
Runs on our server. Your text is sent to Anthropic's Claude to write the result. We count runs and never save what you enter; an identical request may be answered from memory for up to five minutes.
What you can do with it
- Get past a blank page with a rough structure and some first sentences
- See how a topic might be covered before you write your own version
- Produce a draft for a subject expert to correct and fill with real experience
- Compare a generic take with your own, to see what only you can add
How it works, step by step
- 1
Write a brief before any draft
Decide who the article is for, the question it answers, the keyword and what the current top results cover. A draft written without a brief is generic by default, whether a person or a model writes it.
- 2
Fact-check every claim
Go through the draft sentence by sentence. Every number, name, date and definition needs a source you have checked yourself. Delete anything you cannot verify. A language model can state wrong things confidently.
- 3
Add experience and evidence
Put in what only you have: examples from your work, screenshots, your own data, a result you measured, an opinion you can defend. This is the part a reader and a search engine cannot get elsewhere.
- 4
Edit for your voice and your site
Rewrite it the way your site speaks, cut padding, and add internal links to your related pages. The model knew nothing about your other pages, so it could not link to them.
- 5
Have a person review it before it publishes
Someone who knows the subject reads the final version and signs off. If nobody would put their name to it, it is not ready.
Why a one-shot draft is not an article
A language model can write fluent paragraphs about almost anything in seconds. That fluency is the risk. A one-shot draft has four gaps that no amount of prompting closes:
- No first-hand experience. It has not used the product, run the process or met the customer. It can only summarize what is generally said.
- No verified facts or sources. It does not check claims against a source. Numbers, names and dates may be wrong, and they will read just as confidently as the right ones.
- No knowledge of your site. It does not know your other pages, your voice, your offer or what you have already published, so it cannot link, differentiate or stay consistent.
- No judgment about the reader. It does not know what the people searching this query already know, or what the current results fail to tell them.
Google’s spam policies describe a pattern called scaled content abuse: producing large amounts of unoriginal content mainly to manipulate rankings, whatever the method. Publishing unedited AI drafts at volume fits that description. The problem is not that a model wrote the first version. It is that nobody added anything to it.
From draft to publishable
Doing this well by hand looks the same with or without a generator. The draft only replaces the blank page.
- Brief first. Audience, question, keyword, what ranks now and what it misses. A content brief generator gives you a template.
- Fact-check. Verify or delete every claim.
- Add experience and evidence. Your examples, your data, your screenshots, your opinion.
- Edit for voice. Cut padding and rewrite in your site’s register. Add internal links to related pages.
- Human review. Someone who knows the subject reads it and approves it before it goes live.
Most of the value is in steps three and five. That is where an article becomes worth citing.
How AltoRank does it
AltoRank is built around those steps rather than around the draft. It plans content from the site’s own data, such as what it already ranks for and what is within reach, drafts each piece against a brief, and a person approves each one before it publishes. The approach is explained on approval-first SEO content. It is open source and can be self-hosted free, with hosted plans on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I publish the draft as it is?
You should not. The draft has no first-hand experience, no verified facts or sources, and no knowledge of your site, your voice or your other pages. It can also state wrong things confidently. It is a starting point for a person to fact-check, extend and edit.
Does Google penalize AI-written content?
Google's stated position is that it judges content on quality and helpfulness, not on how it was produced. But its spam policies describe scaled content abuse: publishing large amounts of unoriginal content made mainly to rank, whether by automation or by people. Publishing unedited AI drafts at scale is exactly that pattern.
How long is the draft?
Short. It is meant to give you a structure and a first pass to work from, not a finished long-form piece. Expect to add most of the substance yourself.
What does the keyword do?
If you add one, the draft is written with that search query in mind. It does not guarantee the article will rank for it. Ranking depends on what already ranks, your site's authority and whether your final page answers the query better.
What happens to what I enter?
Your topic and keyword go to our server and on to Anthropic's Claude, a fast model, which writes the draft. We count how many times the tool runs and never save what you enter; an identical request may be answered from memory for up to five minutes. There is a daily usage limit so the tool can stay free without a signup.
How is AltoRank different from this tool?
This tool writes one draft from a topic. AltoRank plans content from a site's own data, drafts each piece against a brief, and a person approves every piece before it publishes. Nothing goes live without that approval.
