Keyword combiner: every combination of your word lists.

Put modifiers, core terms and qualifiers in separate lists and get every combination, formatted for an ad campaign or ready to check for search demand. Fast to generate, and most of the output will not be worth a page.

Keyword combiner

Runs in your browser. Nothing you paste is sent anywhere.

Match types:

Empty lists are skipped. Duplicates are matched case-insensitively after spacing is tidied, so “Best shoes” and “best shoes” count once. Output stops at 50,000 combinations to keep the page responsive; above that, split the lists. A combination is a candidate, not a keyword: check that people actually search it before you build a page or a campaign on it.

What you can do with it

  • Build ad group keyword lists with match types applied
  • Expand a service and location grid into candidate queries
  • Generate seed terms to check for search volume
  • Spot which combinations read naturally before you brief pages

How it works, step by step

  1. 1

Split the query into its parts

Most commercial queries are a modifier, a core term and a qualifier: best / running shoes / for flat feet. Put each part in its own list, one entry per line.

  2. 2

    Choose which lists must appear

Every filled list produces only full combinations. The smaller-groups option adds the shorter ones too, so a qualifier becomes optional without a blank line hack.

  3. 3

    Decide whether order matters

For ads, word order mostly matters within phrase and exact match. For SEO seed lists, keep A before B before C unless you know people search it the other way round.

  4. 4

Apply match types, if this is for ads

Broad is the bare keyword, phrase is wrapped in quotes and exact is wrapped in brackets. Tick more than one to get each keyword in each format.

  5. 5

Check demand before you build anything

A combination is a candidate. Run the list through a keyword volume source, drop what nobody searches, and group what is left by intent before it becomes a page or an ad group.

Combinations are cheap; demand is not

A combiner makes a thousand keywords in a second, which is exactly why it needs a warning. Most of those combinations are grammatical and plausible and searched by nobody. The value of the tool is speed at the start of a process, not the list at the end of it.

The working method is short:

  1. Generate combinations from lists you actually believe in.
  2. Check them against a search volume source.
  3. Throw away the ones with no demand.
  4. Group the rest by intent with the keyword clustering tool, so variations that want the same page end up on the same page.

This is where a combiner earns its keep without caveats. Ad groups are built from tight sets of closely related keywords, match types are applied mechanically, and typing “cheap trail running shoes” in three formats by hand is not a good use of anyone’s afternoon. Download the CSV, which has one row per keyword and match type, and import it.

For SEO

Use it to find patterns, not pages. A service by location grid (plumber / emergency plumber by each town you serve) is a legitimate reason to see every combination. Whether each one deserves its own page depends on whether you have something different to say for each, not on whether the combination exists. Pages that differ only in the swapped word are the thing search engines treat as spam, and they cannibalise each other on the way there.

Frequently asked questions

What is a keyword combiner for?

Generating every variation of a query pattern from its parts, so you do not type them out by hand. It is most useful for paid search ad groups and for building a seed list that you then check for real search demand.

What are broad, phrase and exact match?

Google Ads keyword match types. Broad match is written as the plain keyword, phrase match in quotes, and exact match in square brackets. They control how closely a search has to match the keyword for the ad to be eligible. Broad match modifier, the old +word syntax, was retired in 2021, which is why it is not offered here.

Should I make a page for every combination?

No. Google's spam policies call out doorway pages and scaled content made mainly to rank for query variations, and a page per combination is exactly that pattern. Build a page where a combination has real demand and a genuinely different answer; otherwise let one page cover the variations.

Is there a limit?

Output stops at 50,000 combinations so the page stays responsive. Four lists of 20 entries each already make 160,000 full combinations, so if you hit the cap, the lists are probably wider than any plan needs.

How does duplicate removal work?

Keywords are compared case-insensitively after extra spaces are collapsed, so "Best Shoes" and "best shoes" count once. It runs before match types are applied, so each surviving keyword gets each format you ticked.
